Why This Session Matters

Students are often taught to read deeply and holistically, yet they are most frequently assessed through multiple-choice questions that reward precision, focus, and efficiency. This disconnect can lead even capable readers to overanalyze, second-guess, and miss questions they otherwise understand.

This one-hour professional learning session examines how reading comprehension is assessed through multiple-choice questions and offers a clear, practical approach for aligning instruction with that reality—without sacrificing rigor or thoughtful reading. With midyear assessments and spring testing approaching, this session offers strategies teachers can use immediately.
